DBSK Song of the Month: 넌 나의 노래 (You’re My Melody)
DBSK made a comeback to the Korean music scene after one year and 7 months of staying in Japan. Their Korean fans sorely missed them so this comeback album was so anticipated. Their fourth Korean album ‘Mirotic’ was released last September 2008, and as expected, it was a huge hit --- placing over 500,000 pre-orders in Korea alone.
From then on, Cassies have considered September as Mirotic month, and just a few weeks ago, we celebrated Mirotic day virtually by watching the Mirotic MV again, reliving the glory days, and spazzing to our hearts’ content.
For this issue, I am going to review one of the songs in the Mirotic album. It’s넌 나의 노래 (You’re My Melody). This has to be one of my favorite tracks from the album so I chose it to be the DBSK Song of the Month.
I fell in love the first time I heard of this song. I remember having a last song syndrome (LSS) of this song for about a month. The song starts off with a piano accompaniment, and then followed by DBSK’s voices and the instruments. It is a mid-tempo song, and it was sung by DBSK with so much ease. Their voices blend so well; it’s as if I am being serenaded by the five of them. The bridge is very noticeable because here, we can hear Yunho belting out high notes – which he don’t usually do since he does the rapping most of the time. The song ends as DBSK go into acapella --- which is my favorite part of the song, because it shows the perfect harmony they exude whenever they do acapella.
Sad to say, they only performed this song once, and that was during the Fall Mini Concert last 2008. I really wish they could have sung it during the Mirotic Concert. I can say this is actually one of the underrated songs of DBSK in their Mirotic album.
The lyrics were just as beautiful as the melody and the artist who sang it --- to quote the chorus:
You’re my melody
I’ll perform for you (on and on)
You are my song
The soundtrack in my life
I love you
You lighted up the stage of my life
(I’ll sing it again) You’re my song
I have always borne in mind that this is DBSK’s song to Cassiopeia. DBSK will keep performing for their fans, which they have always considered as their family. I really love it how DBSK values Cassiopeia, and regard them as their 6th member. Cassiopeia, in return, supports them in all their endeavors, and protects them against malicious remarks other might impute to DBSK.
This is the bond that no lawsuit can ever separate. *sobs*
Summing it up, this song is surely something that could lift you up whenever you feel like you’re giving up in the light of the lawsuit brouhaha --- just keep in mind that as long as there is DBSK, they are always ready to perform for you. That's enough reason for me to keep my faith to the five of them.
